Abstract

This paper presents a simple way to realize a tunable metamaterial (MM) absorber based on water and three-dimensional (3D) printing material. The unit-cell of the proposed water-based absorber has three patterns which are aimed at covering three different absorption frequency bands. We can easily realize switching among such three patterns through mechanical movement control, which leads to an effective switching among different absorption bands, resulting a tunable water-based MM absorber. The whole absorber is composed of water substrate and 3D printing frame which is quite easy for fabrication. We think the proposed tunable absorber can find applications in anti-EM-interference or wireless signal filter domain.
