Abstract

This paper records: A tuberculosis survey in 1948 among a pastoral tribe, living in comparative isolation on a high plateau in the Northern Province of Tanganyika. An unexpectedly high infectivity rate, with a fairly high, but in relation to the infection comparatively low, disease rate — probably due to the simplicity and lack of strain and stress in their life. Human type of infection, despite the high percentage of acute glandular disease. An illustration of the usefulness of the graded tuberculin test. Discussion on the significance of the different grades of infection in relation to disease.
