Abstract

A gas-liquid flow synthesis of carboxylic acids using CO2 in a tube-in-tube gas permeable reactor was described. In the tube-in-tube configuration, the gas permeable Teflon AF-2400 tubing is placed within PTFE tubing, thus allowing the substrate and gas streams to be independently introduced to the reactor with control of the flow rate and pressure for each input. The gas-liquid flow reactor worked as an effective CO2 supplier and led to the generation of carboxylic acids from Grignard reagents through the incorporation of polymer-supported reagents at room temperature.
