Abstract

ABSTRACT The enthalpy relaxation mechanism of an azobenzene side chain liquid crystal polymethacrylate is investigated by means of DSC experiments after proper annealing procedures at temperatures below the glass transition. The data are analyzed according to a recently developed trap model. The model is found to be able to describe the experimental enthalpy relaxation data fairly well, providing a means to estimate the cooperativity length of the system.
