Abstract
A method is proposed to improve the frequency selectivity for the transmitted polarization converters. The second-order and third-order resonant unit cells are presented, which can convert the Y-polarized electromagnetic(EM) waves to X-polarized EM waves with high frequency selectivity. The structure consists of a receiving patch, a filtering structure, and a transmitting patch. Moreover, each layer is connected by the metal holes. The third-order resonant element can achieve cross-polarization conversion in the passband 4.95-5.05GHz, and the frequency selectivity (FS) can achieve 212dB/GHz and 189dB/GHz, respectively at the low and high frequency of the passband edge. In general, the results indicate that the structures possess the characteristics of both high frequency selectivity and cross-polarization conversion.
