Abstract

In Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), with higher node mobility it is laborious to identify an effective and secure routing path to hold the traffic for packet transmission. There are many existing routing protocols designed to deal with the various attacks due to random mobility of nodes. However, the black hole attack and traffic occurrence on the route path remains unresolved which increases the delay time in packet transmission. To solve this issue, Secure Packet Transmission based on the Heuristic Path Ranking Geographic Routing Protocol (SPT-HPR) framework with efficient path ranking is proposed to secure the routing path without any traffic occurrence. The framework SPT-HPR catches the packet dropping nodes and also reduces the traffic rate. A routing table is maintained with credit based ranking for all the nodes, aiming at reducing the computational overhead. The experimental evaluation is carried out on the factors such as computational overhead, average delay time and the packet delivery ratio. It shows that SPT-HPR framework significantly reduces the average delay time for obtaining the secure route path and improves the packet delivery ratio compared to the state-of-the-art works.
