Abstract

This paper proposes a new transformerless dc-dc converter with high voltage gain and reduced voltage stress on the semiconductors. The proposed converter uses two units of diode-capacitor-inductor (D-C-L) at input stage and two voltage multiplier cells at output side. Both of the D-C-L units and the voltage multiplier cells increase the voltage conversion ratio. One of the main features of the proposed converter is that the current stress is distributed among the diodes at D-C-L units. At fixed voltage gain, this reduces the current stress through these semiconductors. Voltage multiplier cells reduce the voltage stress across the main switch and other semiconductors. In such situations, semiconductors with lower R DS-ON and lower forward voltage drop can be used that leads to higher efficiencies. Simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC prove the theoretical analysis and the satisfying operation of the proposed converter.
