Abstract

We propose a time-transformation method to solve the inverse problem of determining the time-dependent diffusion coefficient in parabolic equations. On the first stage by a transformation of the time variable we reduce this inverse problem to problem for identification of the convection or reaction coefficient. Then, we realize two algorithms to solve numerically the new inverse problems. First, linearized approximations in time are constructed using standard difference procedures in space. The second algorithm is of predictor-corrector type. We also extend the transformation method to the problem of simultaneous determination of two unknown coefficients. Results of numerical experiments are discussed.
