Abstract

A new class of non-causal filters with zero-phase approximation in the passband is presented. They may be obtained from the characteristic functions of classical network theory by selecting the poles in a special way, which leaves the magnitude response unchanged. The corresponding digital filters consist of an IIR part cascaded with an FIR one, where the coefficients of the latter can be computed very easily. Compared to other synthesis methods based on non-causal filters, the new method yields more efficient solutions.
