Abstract
A tracking detector with bundles of capillaries 20–25 μm in diameter and 0.4 m long, filled with a liquid scintillator based on the methylnaphthalene with a new dye MBMP, exposed to the 70 GeV/ c P + beam has been studied. An attenuation length of 60–80 cm at distances L > 20 cm is obtained. Hit density on a track at a distance L = 155 mm is n = 4.4 mm −1 and n 0 = 9.6 mm −1 at L = 0. A straight-line RMS residual is σ u ≅ 30 μm, the two track resolution is σ u = 57 μm. The light detected outside the track region (±3 σ u) is 14% of the total detected light.
