Abstract

The temperature dependence of the total vapor pressure above InCl3, as measured by the torsion-effusion method, is expressed by the equation log(p/kPa) = 12.76 ± 0.15 − (8570 ± 200)/(T/K) in the temperature range 495 to 648 K. In addition to InCl3(g), the presence of the dimeric form In2Cl6(g) was observed in the vapor at high temperature. The sublimation process InCl3(s) = InCl3(g) was studied, and the standard enthalpy of this reaction was found to be (158 ± 4) kJ mol-1.
