W. ; Hessman, F. V. Abstract A radial-velocity study of the SU UMa dwarf nova YZ Cnc is presented. The observations establish the orbital period of YZ Cnc to be 0.0868±0.0002 day. The authors have estimated the amplitude of the radial-velocity curve of the white dwarf from variations of the Hα and He I λ5876 emission lines. They find that Kem≈ 50 km s-1 with an estimated error of 20 km s-1. The low K velocity suggests that either the white dwarf is massive or the orbital inclination is small, or both. The authors argue, based on the observed emission-line width, that the white dwarf mass and orbital inclination are likely to be near 0.8 M_sun; and 40°, respectively. Low-resolution spectra obtained during an eruption and during a subsequent quiescent period are also discussed.
