Abstract

A time dependent model of electroless cobalt-manganese deposition will be presented. The results are obtained from the development of a time-dependent mathematical model for the electroless deposition of cobalt based on fundamental principles. The experimental conditions used to develop this model include, temperature of 80oC and pH of 8.5. The governing equations take into account mass transport by migration and diffusion and Butler Volmer kinetics. The model can be used to predict the concentration profile of each species in the solution and the thickness of composite deposit. The simplifying assumptions made in model equations derivation have significant influence on the accuracy of the model predictions.
