Abstract
This paper proposes a new three-port DC-DC converter with high voltage conversion ratio. The proposed converter is applicable for using in the photovoltaic (PV)-battery systems, which have an storage battery port. The voltage conversion ratio of the high voltage port over the low voltage port can be more improved by increasing the turns ratio of the coupled inductors. The proposed converter has the advantage of achieving higher voltage gain and higher ratio of voltage gain over components' number comparing to other conventional converters of the same type. The proposed converter has lower normalized voltage stresses on switches than the other conventional converters. In this study, the proposed converter is analyzed theoretically. Finally, to verify the operation of the proposed converter, the experimental and simulation results of 20V/40V/400V prototype are extracted. Furthermore, the maximum photovoltaic module power through a MPPT (maximum power point tracking) controller in varying radiation conditions is extracted and verified by the simulation results in PSCAD/EMTDC software.
