Abstract

A novel dual-polarized antenna array is presented to achieve beamwidth reconfiguration for base-stations. A single dual-polarized antenna element can obtain a bandwidth of more than 80% for SWR ≤ 2 through cutting off parts of the four radiation patches, covering the frequency range 1.56–3.78 GHz for 2G/3G/LTE and 3.5 GHz C-band (3400–3600 MHz) applications. The gain of the dual-polarized antenna element is about 11.2 dBi. A three-element dual-polarized antenna array with beamwidth reconfiguration is studied in this paper, which can meet the demand of future 5G application.
