Abstract
High optical rotation and unusually high optical stability are exhibited by the helically chiral hydrocarbon 1. Its synthesis was achieved starting from stilbene by heating the syn-syn-anti and syn-anti-anti conformers formed upon cyclization of a hexaphenylbenzene derivative, followed by racemic resolution.
