Abstract

Mrs. O'Leary, Louis Brunsting, other good friends of the Minnesota Dermatologic Society and of Mayo Clinic, ladies and gentlemen: Ruth O'Leary, I know well what a mingling of pain and pride and pleasure these occasions, this memorial lecture, must bring to you. It is kind and courageous of you to have come; Paul would have liked that, and we all appreciate it. When you, Louis, invited me to give the Paul O'Leary Memorial Lecture this year, I, of course, accepted this high honor with alacrity, for I greatly admired Paul's tremendous contributions to our specialty, his character and especially his clinical skill and generous and genuine kindness. Paul was a charming man, as well as a great physician. He was esteemed and loved by all his colleagues, and his blend of Irish warmth and keen clinical wisdom and vast experience enabled him to gain the confidence and enduring affection
