Abstract

A thermoelectric converter based on thin film technology, in which thermocouples are deposited by vacuum evaporation of BiTeSbSe doped alloys onto a thin polyimide film, is presented for application in a plutonium battery as power supply in a biomedical device. High figure of merit and good reproducibility of characteristics of the films are attained by means of an appropriate technique of evaporation and subsequent annealing, the fundamentals of which are described in detail.
