Abstract

The kinetics of the reaction between alumina and barium carbonate were studied using thermogravimetric analysis to monitor the fraction of reaction completed vs. time. The kinetics of the reaction are described by either the nuclei-growth equation or the Ginstling—Brounstein equation, depending on the reaction temperature range. Effects of structure (η or α) and/or doping (with Li + or Cd 2+) of alumina on the kinetics of the reaction are also examined.
