Abstract

Modulated current profile of a relativistic electron beam is theoretically investigated in terms of the propagation distance in a chamber containing a diffused plasma, which exerts wake-field effects on the beam. Neglecting the beam-head erosion, it is found that the beam current profile at a specified propagation distance is expressed in terms of only the time t0, at which the beam segment enters the chamber. Energy modulation along the beam pulse is also calculated.
