Abstract

Narrow vortex relativistic beams with an elliptic section are considered. The beams propagate along an arbitrary smooth spatial curve in the presence of an external nonuniform magnetic field. A model is proposed for description of such beams in a coordinate frame associated with current tubes. It is shown that, contrary to known results, the axial distributions of the potential and magnetic field and the shape of a beam can be specified independently. Solution of the problem is reduced to integration of a single second-order ordinary differential equation.
