Abstract

This article will discuss the model of endurance that emerged from data collected during field-workin rural Nicaragua. How rural Nicaraguan men maintain a stable line of endurance to maintain or attain health and well-being will be discussed. The key concepts that make up the model of endurance will be introduced. The interconnectedness of these concepts and the comprehensiveness of the model will be explained. A cultural case study will be presented to illustrate how the theory and model of endurance is operationalized. The information provided in this article can be used as a model for community and home health nurses who workin rural settings.
