Abstract

The thesis reports the results of a study on precipitates of Mg-RE (rare earth) alloys. Mg-RE alloys have high strength, and they are strengthened by precipitates, thus knowing the properties of precipitates is valuable for advanced alloy design. In this thesis, the precipitates of fifteen binary Mg-RE alloys and two ternary Mg-RE alloys are studied and compared.
