Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretical model of the bubble size distribution in bubble beds and to explain why bubble populations with more than one maximum can be found. The presence of these maxima corresponds to the effect of segregation of bubbles with respect to their volume. The bubbles' coalescence and breakup mechanism is explained by introducing two mathematical functions.
