Abstract

A theoretical model has been developed for analysing pyroelectric response derived from a point heat source scanning across simple ferroelectric domain configurations. The predicted signals have been compared with previous experimental data obtained from the pre-poled specimens of single-crystal barium titanate using a low-energy (0.6 keV) electron beam focused to give a 10 mu m micro heat source (Latham 1963). The theoretical analysis has also been extended to establish the limiting criteria for resolving antiparallel domains in two-dimensional raster display systems.
