Abstract

A theoretical analysis is presented of the influence of ploughing speed on the turning of the furrow slice by a helical mouldboard plough. Three aspects are examined: the sideways forces acting on the furrow slice; the sideways displacement and velocity imposed on the furrow slice; the required shape of the helical plough so that the turning of the furrow slice is not influenced by ploughing speed.
