Abstract

This article examines the semantic features of the negative basic emotive concepts of “fear”, “anger” and “sadness” in terms of their language representation in 21st century American novels. The article aims to identify the semantic characteristics of such negative basic emotive concepts and to reconstruct the “negative basic emotive concept” in modern American English.
