Abstract

AbstractScanning calorimetric determination of the glass transition temperatures (Tg) of sodium disilicate doped individually with 25 wt.% of the oxides of La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Lu reveals the presence of the so‐called “lanthanide tetrad effect” in their glass transition temperatures. This is to the best of our knowledge the first observation of a tetrad effect in the macroscopic properties of a high‐temperature silicate phase.
