Abstract
The formation of the T4 phage-induced lysozyme is highly sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) irradiation. The formation of this “late” protein, in cells infected with nonirradiated, lysozymeless phage and UV-irradiated, lysozyme-producing phage shows an undiminished, high sensitivity to UV irradiation. These results are discussed in the context of current ideas on the control of phage development and of irradiation damage.
