Abstract

Spatial resolution is one of the main characteristics of an X-ray system. It determines the amount of information about the internal structure of an object which can be obtained by X-ray examination. The efficiency and reliability of X-ray diagnosis depends on the spatial resolution of the X-ray system. X-Ray image unsharpness caused by imperfections of the X-ray imaging system results in deterioration of the spatial resolution of the image (film or digital). The total unsharpness of the image is determined by the following equation:
