Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this study was to know the prevalence of Early Childhood Caries (ECC) in children reporting to the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Institute of Dental Sciences, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, India. Methods: This is a retrospective study of data from the Department of Pediatric and preventive dentistry, Institute of Dental Sciences, Bareilly from May 1, 2011 to May 1, 2021. Results: The prevalence of ECC was 51.7%. The prevalence of ECC increased with the increasing age with the highest prevalence among 5-6 year (69.2%) followed by 57.9%, 48.9%, 46.2%, 32.1% and 0% among 4-5, 3-4, 2-3, 2-1 and less than one year old, respectively. Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, the prevalence of ECC was high among children who visited the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Institute of Dental Sciences, Bareilly. As a result, caries prevention and treatment strategies for this group of youngsters are required.
