Abstract

Reports the development of an implantable, fully integrated, single-chip, multichannel sieve electrode neural recording system, which is powered and communicated using an RF telemetry link. The system allows neural recordings of /spl plusmn/500 /spl mu/V signals from regenerated axons, which are amplified with on-chip 100 Hz to 3.1 kHz bandlimited amplifiers, multiplexed, and digitized with a low-power current-mode 8-bit ADC. The signal processing CMOS circuitry dissipates only 15 mW power, operates from a 5V supply, and consumes 4/spl times/4 mm/sup 2/ of area. >
