Abstract

As the first step in correlating the output of single neurons with changes in the grass behavior of the organism or with changes in the electroencephalogram, we developed a technique that discloses complex, multiphasic patterns of increasing or decreasing neuronal interspike intervals. These sequential patterns are composed of as many as 15 intervals. The basic component of the patterns consisted of simple biphasic patterns that have been previously correlated with changes in the electroencephalogram that were produced by I.V. injection of 7–10 mg. pentobarbital.
