Abstract

An accurate definitive cast is critical to the fabrication of any prosthesis. Clinicians seek to reduce costs, and fabricating definitive casts in the office is one way to lower laboratory fees. This article details a process for producing a definitive cast using materials that are commonly available in most dental practices. The technique is straightforward and practical for the dentist and dental auxiliaries, and is compatible with both vinyl polysiloxane and irreversible hydrocolloid impressions.
