Abstract

This literature review focusses on probe-fed unidirectional crossed dipole antennas (CDAs) for multiband and broadband circular polarization (CP). It describes the hierarchical development of CP CDAs and its classification based on different operating frequency bands. The conventional CDA generates a bidirectional radiation pattern. However, unidirectional CP radiation is possible by using reflectors, but it increases antenna profile. The increase in antenna profile can be mitigated by the use of artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) metasurface which is being highlighted in this article. This article also presents different areas of applications of CDA in the concerned field of research. This literature review concludes with the state-of-art comparison of various techniques used for bandwidth enhancement along with the future scope in this field of research.
