Abstract

The members of the Asian genus Leptostachya Nees, partly assembled from the genera Codonacanthus Nees, Dianthera L., Ophiorrhiziphyllon Kurz and Ptyssiglottis T. Anderson are here reconsidered. A number of morphological characters and their correlation with the geographical distribution are treated in detail. It is concluded that the genus is monotypic with the one variable species, Leptostachya wallichii Nees. A full synonymy, generic as well as specific, is given, and an amended description is drawn.
