Abstract

The author presents a systematic study of nuclear properties with Skyrme forces. The properties studied include: (i) nuclear ground state properties with Hartree-Fock (HF) and self-consistent semiclassical approaches; (ii) properties of giant resonances with a random phase approximation (RPA) and sum rule approach; (iii) microscopic nucleon-nucleus optical potentials and related quantities with the mass operator method; and (iv) nucleus-nucleus optical potentials and fusion barriers with the energy density formalism.
