Abstract

The n annihilation cross section on several nuclei (C, Al, Cu, Ag, Sn, Pb) has been measured by the OBELIX experiment at the Low Energy Antiproton Ring at CERN; n’s were produced by charge exchange reaction in the 50–400 Mev/c momentum range. The dependence of the cross section on the target mass number and on the n momentum has been determined. Preliminary results on the final state of the interaction have been obtained and indications of the production of the ρ vector meson in n-nucleus annihilation have been observed.
