Abstract
Abstract Twenty species of Dennaptera have been found in New Zealand of which twelve are endemic. Their classification and morphology are discussed, special attention being given to the endemic species, all of which belong to the family Labiduridae and include seven new species within the genus Parisolabis. An Australian species Anisolabis occidentalis and the cosmopolitan Labia minor are recorded for the first time. All the previously known species are redescribed and the relative importance of the genitalia as a taxonomic character is considered; both male and female genitalia are described in each species. Keys to the families and species are provided. Special features and affinities of the New Zealand fauna are briefly discussed.
