Abstract
Review Questions / Objectives: The objective of this systematic review is to determine perception and experience of stigma among people with schizophrenia. The specific review questions to be addressed are: How do people with schizophrenia perceive stigma? What is the experience of stigma among people with schizophrenia? Criteria for considering studies for this review: Types of participants: This review will consider all studies that include adults (18 years and over) diagnosed with any types of schizophrenia, according to the DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 4th Edition), ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision), or confirmed by their attending psychiatrists. Phenomena of Interest: This review will consider primary studies which explore the perception and experience of stigma among patients with schizophrenia. Context: This review will consider studies conducted with people with schizophrenia in either inpatient, outpatient, or community settings and published in English.
