A systematic review and meta-analysis of the data behind current recommendations for corticosteroids for non-HIV related PCP; Knowing when you are on shaky foundations

  • Research during the early AIDS epidemic fueled major advances in prevention and management of HIV-related Pneumocystis pneumonia (HIV-Pneumocystis Jiroveci Pneumonia (PCP)) [1,2,3,4]

  • The literature does not support an association between adjunctive corticosteroids and survival from non-HIV PCP (NH-PCP) but data are limited and findings should not be considered conclusive
