Abstract

Using archaeological methodology as a framework, the authors have developed a systematic approach to recording and organizing data on historic structures. The approach involves the reactive chronological ordering of theoretically unlimited numbers of individual events in the construction evolution of a structure. The authors illustrate the approach as it was used in the preparation of a report for the Leland Stanford House in Sacramento, California.
