Abstract
Presents and discusses the general solution of the electrostatic problem of a system of parallel cylindrical conductors in the presence of an external field and in particular in a homogeneous external field. For this purpose the authors make extensive use of the theory of automorphic functions. They determine the polarisation of the system.
