Abstract

The liquid phase oxidation of ethylbenzene catalyzed by metal phthalocyanines (CoPc, MnPc, and FePc) was investigated under atmospheric pressure of oxygen at 100° C. The catalytic activity of CoPc is higher than that of MnPc and FePc. The addition of catalytic amounts of K2Cr2O7, MnO2 or V2O5 to the catalytic system can lead to an increase in the catalytic activity or acetophenone selectivity, compared to that of the metal phthalocyanine and catalytic amounts of K2Cr2O7, MnO2 or V2O5 used alone.
