Abstract

In this paper, we propose an optimal toll-points road pricing strategy based on the artificial bee colony (ABC) method for the second-best road pricing problem. Then a comparison is made between optimal toll-points road pricing strategy and cordon pricing schemes. It shows that the ABC algorithm can solve the road pricing problem well and a comparison is also made between genetic algorithm and ABC method for the same optimal problem of road pricing. An analysis is made to explain the results obtained by two methods, and it is recommended that ABC method should be studied further in road pricing research.
