Abstract

This paper provides a detailed literature survey about main web service approaches targeting network traffic reduction. Technically, web service has suffered from network congestions and bottlenecks as a result of their high redundant textual structures. In fact, twenty seven highly reputed publications are discussed in this literature survey paper focusing on significant approaches and models that aim to reduce network traffic. Furthermore, publications are categorized into: web service clustering techniques for traffic reduction, web service clustering techniques for service discovery, aggregation approaches, and compression approaches. Evaluation analysis has shown a potential performance and efficiency for web service clustering techniques for traffic reduction in comparison with other models. Evidently, web service clustering models have achieved a tremendous compression ratio up to 21 with an average of 11.9.
