Abstract

A questionnaire survey was conducted in 120 community physician, the survey items included the methods and contents of training course, the obstacles for attendance of training; meanwhile, focus group discussions attended by selected physicians were also carried out The skills for diagnosis and treatment of common diseases were most required by community physicians, and disease prevention and rehabilitation were ranked second and third respectively. In addition, the physicians also required the knowledge and skills of pre-hospital emergency management, disease screening and chronic disease management. The most favorable way of training is in-site guidance given by doctors from higher level hospital. Staff shortage in community health service centers is the main obstacle for off-service training.
