Abstract

Network measurement is the basis of network research such as condition monitoring, performance management, and security defense. With the expansion of the network scale, the traditional network structure is complex, the management and control capabilities are weak, and the scalability is poor. As a new network architecture, software-defined network can better meet the needs of various network applications. Conducting measurement tasks in a software-defined network can help researchers grasp the operating state and resource consumption of the network, discover network bottlenecks and potential hazards, and improve network performance by optimizing the network structure. This paper studies the related technologies of broadband measurement, packet loss measurement and delay measurement in network performance measurement, and describes in detail the measurement methods, technical characteristics, advantages and disadvantages. The article concludes with a summary and suggests future work.
