Abstract

This paper presents a terse survey on fault detection algorithms already available to detect various kinds of faults in microgrid. In rural area microgrid is the most efficient electrification process. It is expected to play a key role in reliable power dispatch practise. In DC microgrid expensive converters are connected together which may suffer from different kind of faults and for this reason Protection strategy is most important factor to consider. Previous researches focuses on most common types of fault detecting and localizing techniques for faster recovery and smooth operation. Our work mainly emphases on faster and reliable algorithm for fault localization and hence Artificial Neural Network(ANN) based fault detection technique is the most improved algorithm till now which ensures faster detection of most common type of faults than any other algorithms.
