Abstract

Globalization is an irresistible trend, and in the wake of more than twenty years of reform and opening up, and with China's entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO), China's doors are being opened ever more widely. Imports of various kinds of Western literary and art products are having an enormous impact on the ideology of the Chinese people, especially on that of the broad masses of young people, as represented by college students. Among these Western literary and art products, films attract young college students with their unique fascinations. The hype of Hollywood blockbusters, hi-tech films, and Oscar-nominated films continues to heat up, and the culture they propagate is subtly and imperceptibly affecting the present generation of college students. Such being the case, to what extent are college students coming in contact with Western films, and how do they tend to evaluate these films? To clarify these matters, I have conducted the following survey.
